XNG Micro Reviews part 2: Sega Genesis Collection, FFXIII, The Darkness, Dead Nation, Marvel Pinball…

Sega Genesis Collection – PS3

Remember the Sega Genesis? NO!? Well here’s the perfect chance to get reacquainted with more than 40 Genesis titles in full HD including all the Sonic, Golden Axe, Streets Of Rage, and Shining Force games. Definite bang for your buck. +

Final Fantasy XIII – PS3

As linear as rpg’s get. As linear as games get period. Lots of corridors and straight paths, lacking any imaginative level design. Cheesy acting and uninteresting battle system. Disappointing. -

The Darkness – PS3

From the developers of The Chronicles Of Riddick games. Based on the Top Cow comics. Very similar to Riddick in gameplay and style, except for the demons that is. Yes it’s another fps, but it’s a damn good one. +

Dark Void – PS3

Decent yet forgettable. A third-person shooter with a lackluster story and not a whole lot to offer. The jetpack is a plus, but isn’t enough to save it. -

Dead Nation – PSN

A top-down zombie shooter. zombie games are a dime a dozen, but this one is surprisingly memorable. A little on the short side, but co-op is a nice addition. A very decent PSN download. +

Marvel Pinball – PSN

Yup….it’s pinball alright. If you like Marvel and pinball, you may find enjoyment in this. Others will find this one uninteresting. -

Hydrophobia - PSN

A game that appears to be a work in progress. Very rough around the edges and resembles an early ps2 game. The rolling waves of water are surprisingly realistic, but may cause motion sickness. This one is right where it belongs, at the bottom of the ocean. -

Suikoden – PS1 Classic

An old school rpg. Maybe a little too old school, even for the PS1 perhaps. Very reminiscent of a Super Nintendo game. Repetitive gameplay and way too many companions to keep track of (more than 100). -

Megaman – Japanese PS1

The original 8-bit NES classic with a save function and untranslated japanese menus. Punishingly difficult. A little too difficult, kind of ruins it. Stick with the original. -

Orbit – Minis

Premise of the game is to launch a scientist from a platform stationed on each planet in the solar system and make one complete orbit. Money is earned to upgrade the ship and platform. Simple yet addicting. +
