Anyone who has played an Elder Scrolls game can all tell you that the one thing they would kill to have in the next Elder Scrolls title would be multiplayer. Well… actually… you might not have to wait for the next Elder Scrolls title to be able to play online co-op.
A very talented individual has begun working on a mod for the PC version of Skyrim, simply titled Skyrim Online. Although this mod is only in its Alpha testing phase, the author of the mod states that the goal is to allow you to “play with your friends, chat with people worldwide, [and] trade with other players.”
For those of you already using this mod here is a list of updates that are expected to hit before January 1st.
Upcoming features (before 01/01/2012) :
Player’s life, stamina and magicka synced.
Authentication.
Mounts client side.
Weather cycles.
Server side NPC handling.
Voice chat.
Groups, dungeon instancing.
RSA encryption.
Friend list
Waiting for SKSE or CK (unknown delay) :
Animations.
Inventory, equipment and weaponry.
Trading.
Quest handling.
You can also checkout some of the many YouTube videos before downloading the mod for yourself. Also, as stated earlier, this is currently just a mod for the PC version of Skyrim. There has yet to be any news of possibly a future PS3 or Xbox friendly version of this mod although it is very unlikely.
