There has been a lot of rumors running around the internet regarding May 14th being the release date for the PlayStation Network and that individuals as of yesterday have been testing the servers online. All this information is based on speculation and improperly applied facts. Online activity has been seen longer than just May 13th. As a matter in fact, names have been popping up on the LittleBigPlanet’s recently played list along with Killzone 3′s leader board for over a month since the outage (See Previous Post). The information gathered on the May 14th release date is based on 100% pure guesses with no relevant facts to back it up. If the PlayStation Network were to indeed return to working order on May 14th, I’d recommend those individuals to hit the casinos while their luck is still running hot.
Sony (SNE:NYSE) opened trading today at 27.92 and investors are selling. SNE has fallen to 27.62 as of 12:23 PM (EST GMT-5). Since May 10th, Sony stocks have fallen by roughly 18% and continue to decline.
Sony experienced another breech on May 7th on a deprecated 2001 Sony website. Sony Japan said that the names of over 2,500 sweepstakes contestants had information stolen consisting of names and addresses. No credit cards, social security numbers or passwords had been stolen.
